This weekend has been quite an entertaining one for me i must admit. This year i told myself as well making sure i release my album, do some video and all a that other stuff that comes with it i made a vow to rediscover my initial love for hiphop emceeing eg. doing all the shit i used to do coming up but dont do anymore.

Any of you heard of the End Of the Weak (EOW, EO DUB) competition before? In case you have not here is a little snippet of what it is about.

So Heat 1 of 4 of the UK EOW event went down Friday 18th Febuary and involved all the rounds the video shows. I have not freestyled in front of a crowd for ages or freestyled for a long time PERIOD. I still went and won the shit anyway so i gotta go to the UK finals later in the year. Wish me luck on that. The Hip Hop journey will continue.

Saturday 19th Kentish Town EPMD mother fuckers. Eric Parish Making Doe in a big way. They did a strong set that was only like 50mins long when they easily got the catalogue to do at least double that. I guess people didn't mind because it was them but I'm a man who like people going in on their performances. Leave a part of their soul on stage and all that.

They performed RICHTER SCALE and was like I ain't heard this tune since i was 17. So i will share that with you now.

This tune takes me back to college when i was stupidly advised to study Leisure and Tourism as a career choice and that turned out pretty good didn't it. Can you imagine me sorting out your holidays for in Thomas Cook???? NAHHHH!!!

And check this out after the show outside i was chilling with my boy Tony T and his spar from back in the day Fresh saw a like cipher with a beatbox going on with Enlish spitting some fire. I just went over to have a look and found myself being grabbed by the shirt to the cipher and began to freestyle some shit on a EOW Heat 1 Champ flex only to find out it been uploaded on facebook on Sunday. The Internet does not wait about does it. Flipin heck.

BIOGRAPHY

Josh "JC" Cyrus was born in 1988 in Trinidad and Tobago, last child and only son of his parents, along with two sisters. JC grew up most of his life with his mother and partially with his father, he was always interested in music from a very young age, his big interest in music started when at the age of 7 after being given a cassette of Eminem's music. Since then he was such a big influence JC began writing lyrics to songs he would hear on radio or see on TV but never recording them as he didn't have the technology or even knew how to. At the age of 14 JC moved up to England after his mother traveled there to follow her studies as a nurse, there he was exposed to a lot more music and technology, so began writing more and began recording on the families' laptop and microphone, it started off with recording songs on famous beats on a cheap wave editing software called Mixcraft. His skills as a rapper grew with new influence from, 50 Cent, Busta rhymes, Micheal Jackson, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, R Kelly, but the biggest influence on his life with music was Lloyd Banks. After some time JC recorded so many songs he realized that he could never take my music any further because the beats he recorded to weren't his own and he did not buy them or was allowed to use them as his own, and this is where the production side of JC came about. He discovered the famous FL Studio beat making program and set off on his mission to create his own beats and original songs. The name JC came simply from his initials (Josh Cyrus - JC). Since then JC would always write lyrics to his beats only and record them in my bedroom, he joined a little crew going by the name of RBC (Rude Boy Crew) and slowly their music was being noticed in the town if Hayes, but JC was always worried about the quality of the music as it was not recorded in a studio environment. After finished secondary school the group slowly faded and he found himself doing his own thing, studying a BTEC diploma in computing at East Berkshire College in Langley. He ended up following a childhood talent of dance and joining a dance crew in the area of Slough. While in this dance they had a lot of rehearsals in the local youth centre SYPC (Slough young people's center), There he discovered a recording studio and quickly jumped back into his music career knowing that he had now found all the elements he needed to take his music to the next level, and now this brings us to the JC you see today.

How is everyone is the world of the jibba jabba? Good, glad to here your doing alright. This week has been one the most stressful weeks for a long time and no it was not music related.

Some punk ass bow cats vandalised my motor car and thought it would be funny to smash windows and slash tyres of 4 cars in the area where i live. Proper senseless vandalism. Obviously they did not know who owned the damn car. I should go round the street and whoop all these kids and avenge has cars injuries with nothing but a stick and a leather belt.

It was quite a productive week though, had an interview on Generation Radio on Thursday night that went pretty well. I took some of the youngsters with me to give them a taste of a radio interview so they could learn the rules of not fucking up when people are tuning in to hear you. I think that they learnt alot from the interview experience and the freestyle afterwards.

The Headspace mixtape series is a collaboration of minds between the Basement Sessions podcasts and online Hip Hop community and the Hip Hop Hype Dog blog alongside UK Hip Hop Mixtapes.

The idea of Headspace was to create a project that mixes well known names with up and coming talent. All of the artists involved represent the positive and united UK Hip Hop scene that both Basement Sessions and Hype Dog are working towards.

In addition, the mixtape was also created to celebrate one year of the Basement Sessions podcasts. the first show being an interview with London based Dj Venom on the 5th February 2009. So one year on, February 2010 sees the show going from strength to strength, with incredible collaborations building all the time, most importantly with Hip Hop Hype Dog, one of the most important UK Hip Hop blogs to date.

Basement Sessions and Hype Dog are also lucky enough to be supported by Soap Box, a unique and incredibly talented design team and clothing company based in Birmingham, UK. Two of the best boxing heavyweights in boxing history Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali had 3 epic battles each one a classic in it's own right. Two competative warrior pitting their skills,abilities and witts against each within the science which is boxing.

Now your saying to yourself, "WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH YOU JOKER STARR?" My answer is it has nothing what so ever to do with me, i was not even born when then fought but the intense rivalry between the two has left a lasting impression on me since i was 19 years old. The Ali grace against the pressure and recilliance of Frazier always made good viewing.

SO WHAT I AM TRYING to do is to recapture that intense feeling in a musical form, Daniel Niles of the beats, Joker Starr and Dark Angel on the rhymes. Both complement myself and each other well in previous songs like Hollywood on my Northborough Estate Project so its a a wicked combination.

So i am searching my junk mail email address just in case something important has been sent there and i come across this email saying they checked out the RAW SPITTAGE VOLUMES free downloadable mixtape of mine and he was feeling it. I am thinking someone is playing a joke on me as i decide to discard the email i notice there is a song attached called CLASH OF THE TITANS. I give it a listen and think to myself the track is the shitttttt. I forward it immediately to Kashmere and he emails me back the exact same words that i just wrote but his answer had extra t's at the end. So i types back to Shadowstar saying "YO, I LIKE THE TRACK, LET ME GET ON IT SON?" just to see if this guy is serious or not about his craft.

Low and behold i receive an email off a guy called M THEORY who is the producer of the track with an instrumental and a message which told me to do my damn job on this beat right here.

I tell you what i did not disappoint one damn bit. I came through like a favourite at the Grand National.

Just like a London bus with the blogs this week because two have come along at once just as you where getting ready to think of another way to get where you want to get to.

Been pretty busy over the last three week with shows all over the place in Huddersfield and London and the response has been a good one as if you didn't know Joker Starr ain't just a pretty face and a nice flow, he can perform as well. It is like a cross between James Brown, Bruce Springstein and Mr Blobby. Exciting stuff.

BACK IN THE DAY SPIT

How is everyone doing? Hope all of you had a blessed bank holiday weekend all 3 of the people that take time out to read my mumble ramblings and ting. Beginning of September will mark the 10th year since i started learning how to emcee. I was blest and fortunate enough to be taught by some of the countries greats and i am truely grateful to each and every one who has added to me being the baddest emcee in the world since James Brown and Bruce Springstein.

Over the years i have recorded so much music which has just been stuck on dats, adats, cds, hard drives, tapes, mp3 & wavs for so many years its unbelievable. Some songs i dont even have copies of but that is a whole load of different stories all together. This got me to thinking as to why am i and a few other select people the only one who have heard this music which dates from 2001 - 2009. I mean the problem i have always had is that myself and my circle always knew how gifted i am at the spoken word, written and mashing a stage type antics that i have been doing since i was 19, but the fans don't have a clue because i have not been involving you in my movement to greatness.

On my journey to releasing my new LP i am gonna involve people much as i can by just lets you have bits and piece to have, ipod, blog, upload and download just because i got a back catalogue which is better than the majority of the new artists best tune that are coming out. I feel that it is only right that i give you what you want which is good music for free with the intention of grabbing some fans on the way.

So what i am gonna do is for each upload i feel i should give a little back story as to what its about, recording it, blah blah blah that kinda stuff.

The first song in the FLUKEBEAT SUMMER SALE is called PUNCHLINES featuring my former rhyming partner DARK ANGEL. We called ourselves the AMOGEE SINDAKIT and we learned how to rhyme together. I studied music in college i think he did sport science so whatever i was learning on my courses regarding writing techniques i would pass on to him. Song produced and recorded by Soliheen. He hates this song so much he made us re vocal it with different lyric and to this day i am sure he has not played it since i forced him to mix it. This was back maybe around 2003 but what you will find with all my music is that it sounds fresh and done in a way that makes it timeless. Blood-Ren i here you ask. What the hell is a Blood-Ren? What is this Joker Starr going on about now? Is he just talking out his arse again or is this guy crazy?

I could be doing all of the above but there is a method to this Blood-Ren phrase that i have made up. Here is the breakdown so it forever remains broken down.

brother noun 1 man or boy in relation to his siblings. 2 close man friend. 3 (plural also BRETHREN)

Slang use of the word Blood noun 1 a friendly term of address 2 Orig. Black use for addressing a fellow black eg. "What you saying blood?"

So if you first take the friendly term of address which is BLOOD, take the plural address for close male friends which is BRETHREN, do a few twists and turns with the letters and you get the title of the album i am making right now called Blood-Ren.

I started the recording of it this weekend when i paid a visit to my boy in the HUDD ( Huddersfield ) a geezer called Apa Tight who support Arsenal and make wicked music. I went to vocal over his productions along with others producers beats such as G Man from Slough, Miss Toffelees from Leeds and Daniel Niles from Slough, click on the name to go check out their production myspaces.

The recording sessions with Apa Tight where long night time late hours affairs man, with some Pro Evolution, getting ID'ed in Tesco's, prank pulling, football team cussing, tune making and food eating event to say the least. I am not gonna upload any exclusive from the album as such but within the next few week i will start flooding the airwaves and blogs again with my music with some freebies aswell.

It has been quite forgetful few weeks for me as i keep forgetting to document the things that i am doing. Still getting used to the documentation of oneself with the camera phone. Since i turned 29 the brain memory is slipping a bit so please allow me on this alone.

Since i last touched ground with you guys quite a bit of road mileage has been done. I have been to The Hudd ( Huddersfield ) to perform at Huddstock, buck up with Apatight and a few more the the heads up there and see if we could pen in a few projects. I have started putting pen to paper and Apatight beats will definitely be a feature.

That is a pic of Jehst, Micall Parknsun and myself rocking the crowd on the Saturday evening. Saturday night of the same day we had a gig in the the place where the fog on the Tyne is all mine all mine. WHY EYE indeed. Newcastle was a good look as well, the fans are loyal in that neck of the woods, even i sold a CD. ( WooHoo!) I taught them all the Feeding the Animal dance up there, i even got chatting to a fan that had sky blue coloured hair, smurf colour, like a little Smurfette.

The highlight of the night for me was the geordie magic man and his pack of cards that made cards do things they aint supposed to do, like appear in back pockets and under shoes and stuff. He was pissed out of his face which made it even that more intriguing. Have a look at him go.

Loving the noises people are making right now about this Joker Starr fellow, alot of humbling myself going on when people telling me what they think of the Joker Starr.

Got in from the FEEDING TIME AT THE ZOO launch @ Jazz Cafe at 5am so feeling a bit smashed today, still up early as usual. What can i say, i feed the animals like i said i would but i don't think London crowds like to see hardcore underground emcee's having a dance and a bubble, we are supposed to be to be hard ice grilling killing machines. The idea was simple, get everyone who had ever helped me out involved with lyrics,production, artwork, web design, PR, photography and whatever people wanted to get involved in. All of people let me down and a few people didn't. When i pulled out the CD on a few of the let downs they say to me, "BLOOD, WHY DON'T I GET A BRING IN'S?" You did get a bring in you retard it only registered coz you can see the finish product in your face you goon. There are few things in life which make me truly happy and content with life, this is the part where i list them out for you all to see

1. Has to be my mothers Pepper Chicken....mmmmm mmm good. If the chicken could talk itself it would tell you how tasty it is whilst you chew on it.

2. Again is my mums cooking, Jollof rice brings happiness to the West African man. Without it why even bother to have rice created, its that good.

3.Would be whooping people on Pro Evo. If u ain't down with it don't try to understand it, don't even ask any questions.

4. Is being one of the baddest MC's in the world but having no one believe me. It is quite a statement to make but hey, hip hop without ego is plan out Ice Ice Baby and Hammer Time.

5. Would have to be seeing my little nephew grow up and soak things up like a sponge. This week i taught him to say please and thank you but only seems to do it when he wants my food, which goes back to my mommas cooking again. Shows the little boy has good taste.

None of things even come close to what brings me the most joy. Watching my nephew dance to music is like watch MICHEAL JACKSON, HAMMER, JAMES BROWN, CRAZY LEGS and RICKY GERVAIS character from the office rolled into one. He dances like his uncle Joker Starr and this is what makes me happy that i have passed down my knowledge of classy moves and shakes that tell the ladies just what your thinking, kind of like interpretive dance performed by a PG Tips monkey.

RICE AND PEAS

This is me Joker Starr, rapper extraordinaire, local super hero and some would actually go as far to say super pimp you will ever meet. (i deny being a pimp, i am retired) I am not new to this blogging thing but this whole page is like my new toy which i just started because an old friend suggested it would be a good thing to become personal with the scum, i mean my friends and fans.

So lets start up with the first for this page. I was out with Dubbledge (RICHEST MAN IN BABYLON) and Micall Parknsun (WORKING CLASS DAD) at The Pangea Project where they was performing and shit, I had my camera on me and some CD's of the NORTHBOROUGH ESTATE PROJECT in my bag and thought fuck it i might as well record this and do some cheap plugs and perform.

SO im on stage and shit rocking the crowd and it gets to time to perform the tune WELCOME BACK HOME which is on YNR's FEEDING TIME AT THE ZOO compilation coming out in the summer and i show people this dance to do and EVERYONE in the place is doing it.

So my aim within a month is to have an instruction video and recording of the crowd doing it at Jazz Cafe on May 15th so make sure people have got their cameras and phones ready....
